1.0 OBJECTIVE : To set up a procedure for the calibration of High Vacuum Pump and digital flow meter.
2.0 SCOPE : This SOP is applicable for calibration of High Vacuum Pumps and digital flow meters which are installed in Quality Control Department of (Company Name).
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 QC Officer/Analyst shall carry out the activity as per procedure.
3.2 Overall responsibility for training, implementation & follow-up with the QC Manager or his/her nominee.
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY
4.1 Head of Quality. .
5.0 PRECAUTIONS
5.1 Before taking reading make sure that all the connection is air tight.
5.2 Stabilize the vacuum pump prior to taking readings.
6.0 PROCEDURE
6.1 Calibration of High Vacuum Pump
6.1.1 Connect the ‘High Vacuum Pump and Calibrated Digital Flow meter to the mains.
6.1.2 Connect the flow meter to the High Vacuum Pump.
6.1.3 Switch on the High Vacuum Pump and Digital Flow meter.
6.1.4 Allow 5 minutes after switch-on to stabilize the Flow meter prior to taking readings.
6.1.5 Perform the Vacuum source at the 28 Liters/Min. and observe the flow rate up to 45 minute.
6.1.6 Perform the Vacuum source at the 60 Liters/Min. and observe the flow rate up to 45 minute.
6.1.7 Record all readings to calibration report (ANNEXURE – I).
6.2 Calibration of Flow Meter
6.2.1 Connect the ‘High Vacuum Pump, Digital Flow meter and Calibrated Digital Flow Meter to the mains.
6.2.2 Connect both the flow meters parallel to the High Vacuum Pump.
6.2.3 Switch on the High Vacuum Pump and both Digital Flow meters.
6.2.4 Allow 5 minutes after switch-on to stabilize the Flow meters prior to taking readings.
6.2.5 Perform the Vacuum source at the 28 Liters/Min. and observe the flow rate up to 45 minute.
6.2.6 Perform the Vacuum source at the 60 Liters/Min. and observe the flow rate up to 45 minute.
6.2.7 Record all readings to calibration report (ANNEXURE – II).
6.3 Frequency: yearly ± 15 Days
6.4 Acceptance Range: Tolerance ± 5%
