SOP for Operation Cleaning and Calibration of Digital Shaker

1.0 OBJECTIVE
To set up a procedure for the operation, Cleaning and Calibration of Digital Shaker.

2.0 SCOPE
This SOP is applicable for the operation and calibration of Digital Shaker (Eq. ID: QC/166) in the Quality Control Department of (Company Name).

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 Operating personnel in the laboratory is responsible for carrying out the procedure.
3.2 Overall responsibility for training, implementation & follow-up with the QC Manager or his/her nominee.

4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY
4.1 Head of Quality.

5.0 PRECAUTIONS
5.1 Do not operate the shaker more than 250 rpm.
5.2 Before start shaking make sure that all the glassware on the shaker are tight enough so that these are not loose during shaking.
5.3 Make sure that no liquid are go down or spread on the shaker. Do not shake any solution in beaker or any open container.

6.0 PROCEDURE
6.1 Operation Procedure
6.1.1 Loose the holding bar and put glassware on the shaker and tight enough the holding bar so that the glassware can’t move itself.
6.1.2 Connect the power cord to the power source.
6.1.3 Switch on the shaker
6.1.4 Set RPM by pressing [∙] button and then to increase rpm press up word and for decrease press downward arrow
6.1.5 Again press [∙] button and then to increase time press upward arrow and for decrease press downward arrow.
6.1.6 After setting time and rpm press start button to start shaking.
6.1.7 After complete shaking shaker will automatically stop.
6.1.8 Loose the holding bar and took glassware away.
6.2 Cleaning and Maintenance
6.2.1 If any liquid fall on the shaker clean it with tissue paper or soft absorbing cloth.
6.2.2 If any salt fall on the shaker open the tray and clean it with plenty of water and then clean it with tissue paper or soft absorbing cloth.
6.3 Calibration Procedure
6.3.1 For RPM Calibration: Set a calibrated digital taco meter at the corner of the shaker.
6.3.2 Start the shaker and read the rpm from taco meter. Take reading at 100 rpm, 150 rpm, and 200 rpm. Record the reading at annexure-I.
6.3.3 For timer calibration: Set 5 minutes, 10 minutes and 15 minutes separately and start the shaker. Read the time collapse with a digital stop watch and record it at annexure-I
6.3.4 If calibration does not comply with limit contact with supplier.
6.3.5 Frequency : One year  15 days
6.3.6 Acceptance Criteria : For Shaking  2 rpm, For Timer  30 sec
