SOP for Energy Review

1.0 OBJECTIVE: To lay down a procedure for Energy Review

2.0 SCOPE: This SOP is applicable to Energy management System.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Electrical Maintenance Department is responsible for measurement of electrical energy consumption at each location.
2. Concerned HOD is responsible for recording the consumption of all other energy sources.
3. Officer / Executive Engineering: Engineering: Preparation of SOP
4. Operating Manager Engineering: Review, Training and Effective implementation of this SOP

4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY:
Head – Engineering

5.0 ABBREVIATIONS:
SOP Standard Operating Procedure
EnPI Energy Performance Indicator

6.0 PROCEDURE:
6.1 Identify different types of energy being used in each section considering all the facilities, equipment, systems and processes that use energy as input in each section.
6.2 Consumption of different types of energy for each section should be recorded every month in the energy performance monitoring format.
6.3 Energy consumption data of all the sections is recorded in the energy review format. Percentage share of energy consumption of each section is derived from the total energy consumption. The sections which are consuming 5% and above of the total energy consumption of the factory are considered as significant energy use sections
6.4 The facilities, equipment, systems and processes consuming above 50KW of load in the significant energy use sections are considered as significant energy use areas
6.5 List of significant energy use sections and facilities, equipment, systems and also the variables affecting the significant energy use processes are listed in format.
6.6 The list of significant energy use areas are communicated to respective sections. These are considered in setting energy management objectives and targets
6.7 The energy review will be updated once in year or earlier in case of any major changes in facilities, equipment, systems or processes.
6.8 Month-wise Energy Performance indicator for each section is calculated as Energy consumption is divided by 1000 number of production and same is recorded in Energy Performance Monitoring format.
6.9 Month-wise energy performance (all types of energy and EnPI) of each section will be compared with Annual average and month wise energy data of base line year. The same are recorded in energy baseline format. Expected EnPI is also recorded in energy baseline format.
