1.0 OBJECTIVE
To provide a guideline for use of handling of emergency situation.
2.0 SCOPE
This procedure applies for handling of any emergency situation in (Compnay Name).
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 All employees should aware with the procedure.
3.2 Manager EHS/Manager HR shall be responsible to provide necessary facilities to combat emergency situation and provide training to all employees.
3.3 Engineering department & EHS department shall be responsible for periodic checks of emergency facilities.
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY
4.1 Manager EHS/General Manager HRA, Factory
5.0 PREACAUTIONS
5.1. All employees must report in assemble point to ensure head count.
6.0 PROCEDURE
6.1 In the event of any calamity arising in the plant the concerned personnel should avoid creating panic amongst others and follow the steps outlined below to tackle the contingency. Escape routes shall be displayed at adequate places, including the positions of emergency exits.
6.2 In case of Fire in the Plant.
6.2.1 Rush and switch off the mains to cut the electric supply.
6.2.2 Use specific type of fire extinguisher as per procedure (SOP No. : ES004) fire classification and to reduce the intensity of fire.
6.2.3 Assess the situation and inform all the concerned about the situation and acquire additional help if fire is uncontrollable.
6.2.4 Remove all inflammable material to avoid the spread of fire to other areas.
6.2.5 Use the emergency exit route as outlined in the plan to get away from the critical area.
6.2.6 During evacuation, do not use lifts.
6.2.7 Every person will try to avoid shouting and come out from the effected zone calm and quietly.
6.2.8 Assemble in assemble point near to gate house 02.
6.2.9 The HR/EHS in charge on duty shall ensure that all personnel leave the critical area.
6.2.10 Do not re-enter building/effected area until authorized to do so.
6.2.11 Follow the First Aid procedure (SOP No. : ES002) in case of any casualty.
6.2.12 In case the injured is required to be attended by the doctor then the following points are to be noted.
6.2.12.1 Inform the Doctor at Tongi in advance on Telephone No. 9803111 and speed dial 847, so that necessary preparations are undertaken before patient (Injured) arrives at the clinic/hospital. The doctor, after examination, shall decide whether the injured employee requires to be admitted at clinic/hospital, Tongi for further/appropriate treatment.
6.2.13 In case of severe injury to personnel, the information regarding the accident shall be communicated to the following agencies as provided in the relevant labour laws.
6.2.13.1 Local police must given first information report based on the diagnosis of the doctor to avoid complication in the event of casualty.
6.2.13.2 Complete Form No. 18 (Rule 84 of Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006) and submit to the Factory Inspectorate in case the assessment of the accident so warrants. Prior intimation should accordingly be passed on to the concerned officer within 48 hours.
6.2.14 EHS department will do emergency evacuation drill once in a year.
