To describe a procedure about self-reporting by an employee when he/she is suffering from infectious diseases and open lesions. And to prevent personnel known to be suffering from, or known to be carriers of a disease transmission through contact, from working in factory areas.
Responsibilities
> Employees are responsible for reporting his/her disease to Factory HR & Admin In-charge, meeting with doctor before & after recovery and submitting fitness certificate to the Factory HR & Admin In-charge as per Template-1.
> Factory HR & Admin In-charge is responsible for reporting to section In-charge, advising the employee to join his/her duty after recovery.
> Medical Officer is responsible for diagnosing the disease and recommending to take Sick-Leave (if required), checking thoroughly and issuing fitness certificate after recovery and maintaining record.
Precautions
> Do not allow any personnel into the production floor having infectious disease & open lesions.
> Employees will report to their supervisor if they have any symptoms of infectious disease.
> Personnel must report to his Supervisor with the required “Fitness Certificate” after recovery.
> Personnel must report to HR and Admin / Section in charge regarding Infectious diseases.
Definition
Infectious Diseases: Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms-such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Many organisms live in human bodies. They are normally harmless or even helpful, but under certain conditions, some organisms may cause disease. Some infectious diseases can be passed from person to person.
Procedure
> Employees will report any illness, cut, abrasions or injury to his/her immediate supervisor before begin to work as per Form-1. If he/she is suffering from coughing, sneezing, experiencing a runny nose or have an infected eye, have any symptoms of diarrhea, fever, vomiting, cold fever, skin infection, viral infection, sore throat with fever or jaundice, he/she must report it before working.
> If jobs where workers don’t contact products, or it is not possible to adequately reduce the risk of contamination to product, or the worker is too sick to work, then that employee will be sent home.
> All employees must inform management and HR & Admin department of any communicable diseases immediately. The employee is NOT permitted to work in production area, and food handling area.
> All employees must inform management and HR Department of any communicable diseases (whether by medical examination or manifests symptoms) immediately. The employee is NOT permitted to work in production area, and food handling area. Employees with an open cut or wound must cover with a Band-Aid and a glove. If the wound is still exposed and unable to cover with a waterproof cover (i.e. band aid and glove) the employee will not work in manufacturing and primary packaging area.
> To have an open lesion, including boils, sores, or infected wounds, or any other abnormal source of microbial contamination, by which an employee, shall be excluded from those area until the condition is corrected.
> Workers are excluded from handling produce if they have diarrhea, an illness or open lesion (boil, sore, infected wound). If employees are sick or injured they are to report the condition to their supervisor. Should workers become injured on the job, they must seek first aid help. Injuries include but are not limited to cuts, abrasions or other injuries. A first aid box is present and available for staff use. Appropriate forms will be filled out (Illness Injury Report Form; Illness Injury Reporting Log).
> Advise him /her to report to doctor after recovery.
> If found unfit then resend the person to take more leave until he/she recovers.
> If found fit then issue fitness certificate and keep record.
> Submit fitness certificate along with leave form to the Factory HR & Admin In-charge.
> Advice the employee to join his/her duty informing his/her section In-charge.
> Corrective Action: HR Department will retain employees found not following the procedures in this SOP. HR Department will observe the employees in their area of operation to ensure employees who have a communicable disease or appears to have a communicable disease and production area. They will also observe that employees with cuts or wounds has applied a bandage and glove to cover the affected areas while working in the plant.
> Verification: If a violation to the communicable disease/injury is observed, then the area supervisor will halt production and inform the head of department. HR & Admin makes an assessment as to whether product safety has been compromised. If product has not been compromised, then the product is released and production is continued. Respective HR & Admin will review the incident with the employees involved and assess whether re-training is needed. The incident, along with the employee involved and corrective actions taken, will be documented.
> Failure to report any of these conditions, or violating any personal hygiene guidelines may result in disciplinary action.
