Objective: To establish a standard procedure for replacement of HEPA Filters.
Scope: This procedure is applicable for replacement of HEPA Filters at HVAC system, (Company Name).
Responsibility: Engineering Officer shall be responsible to ensure that replacement of HEPA filter is carried out as per SOP and record is kept properly.
Accountability: Head of Engineering.
Precautions:
1. Replacement of filter should be carried out by trained personnel.
2. Proper documentation should be carried out.
Procedure:
=>> The HEPA filters are to be replaced due to DOP Test failure or if physically found damaged or when pressure drop exceeds 450 Pa.
=>> For changing the HEPA filters, following procedure is to be followed:
=>> Switch ON the air-handling unit as per procedure & Put the flexible tubes in the filter box across filters to measure pressure drop.
=>> In case of Plenum HEPA, observe the pressure drop across filter on the magnehelic gauge.
=>> In case of Terminal HEPA, observe the air velocity under the particular HEPA.
=>> If the reading is found out of limit, it indicates choked condition of the filter. Note it in FRM NO.: FEG/031-00 as per ANNEXURE-I.
=>> Stop the air-handling unit; open the filter box or terminal HEPA box grill.
=>> Take out the filter from the housing.
=>> Take the filter to scrap yard.
=>> Puncture the filter to prevent misuse of the filter.
=>> Take new filter. Check the filter for proper type, size & damage.
=>> Check the flow direction of the filter and gasket for proper alignment. Allot the code no.
=>> As per the arrow mark install the filter in the housing.
=>> Properly tighten the holding screw/bolts. Check that there is no gap between the housing and filter.
=>> Clean & install the grille. Close the door of filter box.
=>> Switch ON the AHU.
=>> Observe the pressure drop/ air velocity of the new filter and note the reading in the format as per ANNEXURE-I.
=>> Record all the parameters as mentioned in ANNEXURE-I.
=>> Carry out the validation as per validation protocol.
