Objective: To establish a standard procedure for maintenance of fire hydrant system.
Scope: This procedure is applicable for the maintenance of fire hydrant system.
Responsiblity:
1. Operator shall be responsible to follow the procedure strictly.
2. Supervisor shall be responsible to ensure that the SOP is followed properly.
Precautions:
1. Concerned personnel should be trained on the SOP.
2. Before starting any maintenance work, system is to be stopped and power should be isolated. Hang the board “UNDER MAINTENANCE”.
Procedure:
=>> The preventive maintenance of Fire Hydrant system consists of monthly maintenance. Carry out the maintenance work as per the Maintenance Check List (ANNEXURE-I).
=>> Carry out the following works MONTHLY:
=>> Check that all the doors of cubicles are properly getting opened & closed with hanged key.
=>> Check that all the valves are getting opened & closed and there is no leakage of water from the valve station.
=>> Check that the condition of water hose is good and there is no tearing. Check that the fittings are connected properly.
=>> Check that the hose nipple is not damaged & getting fixed properly to the hose.
=>> Check that the hose real is free to rotate smoothly.
=>> Check that the black hose is OK and no cracks are found. If cracks are observed then replace the hose with proper end fittings.
=>> Check that the pipe end cap is located and tightened properly.
=>> Clean the cubicle and lock it properly.
=>> After completion of maintenance work, clean the surrounding area. Check that no objects or tools are left.
=>> Record the Description of work and spare parts used (if any)
