Calibration of Minicheck Checkweigher

Objective: To provide guidelines for calibration of mini-check check weight.

Scope: This procedure is applicable for calibration of check weight installed in MDI production area at (Company Name).

Responsibility:
1. Concerned department shall be responsible to perform the activity as per procedure.
2. QA shall be responsible for effective implementation of procedure and approval of calibration report.

Accountability: Concerned Department Heads

Precaution:
1. Ensure check weight is clean before use, including its surrounding area.
2. Check and ensure due date of calibration.
3. Ensure that the standard weights, which are being used for calibration, are calibrated and calibration Certificate along with validity of calibration is available.

Procedure:
=>> Take off the front panel with the four-line-display.

=>> For better access remove the connections between cards and four-line-display during calibration.

=>> Tare first by key T without any can being on the weighing platform.

=>> Make a working cycle without any cans in the star wheel. The display will show 000.

=>> Take 100gm (for 190 grams range) and 20gm (for 40 grams range) standard weight.

=>> Place each standard weight at the check weight’s inlet and make working cycles. Repeat the activity 10 times. Note the observed weight in the calibration report.(Annexure – I)

=>> Calculate the standard deviation, %RSD and measurement of uncertainty by using the formula given in the calibration report.

=>> Acceptance Criteria
The observed weight should be within ± 0.1% of standard weight. The measurement of uncertainty should be less than 0.0001 and %RSD for the 10 replicate weights should not be less or equal to 1.0%.

=>> After completion of calibration switch ‘OFF’ the main supply.

=>> If the acceptance criteria for calibration are not satisfied, then follow the procedure for Handling of Out of calibration for instrument & equipment (SOP No.: QA049).

=>> After completion of the calibration activity, affix the duly filled and signed calibration status label on the instrument.

=>> Calibration Frequency

=>> Daily performance checks as per respective check weight operation procedures.

=>> Every three-month ± 10 days of due date.
