Principle of Rapid Mixer Granulator

In a rapid mixer granulator, granule formation occurs through the rising, swirling and tumbling motion of the material. Dry mixing is done by adding all the ingredients to the RMG by rotating the impeller and chopper at high speed. While adding the binder solution to the powder impeller and the chopper is operated at low speed. After forming the wet mass, the required size granules are made by running the impeller and chopper at high speed.

Dry mixing takes about 3-5 minutes to mix the ingredients, wet mixing takes 5-10 minutes to form a wet mass of ingredients while the granulation process takes 5-10 minutes to produce granules of 0.5mm to 1.5mm size. Mixing time in processing depends on the amount of ingredients and their particle size.
