1. Install dedicated HVAC systems with appropriate filters in all process areas.
2. Install suitable airlock with pressure differential.
3. Air intake should not be located near wet drains, air exhaust or dust sources.
4. Air supply and exhaust points should not be so close or so disposed that it restricts the supply of clean air to work sites or the removal of dust or contaminants from work sites.
5. The air flow pattern and recirculation air should be designed for adequate protection of the product as well as the safety of the operators.
6. Risk of contaminants caused by recirculation or re-entry of inadequate or inadequately treated air shall be minimized.
• Separate area for filter cleaning away from AHU.
• Air shower should be provided so that the person leaving the department is free from a powder adhesion.
• Appropriate dust extraction system, wherever applicable
• Clean the dust extraction and associated piping at each product change.
• Where beta-lactam products, antibiotics, hormones, cytotoxics, drugs made from live microorganisms are handled, there should be completely separate air handling facilities with exhaust air scrubbing.
