Dissolution

The process by which solid particles or drugs are dissolved in a suitable solvent for ease of absorption.

Difference Between Dissolution and Assay
Answer: Dissolution is the amount of drug released from a dosage form of a drug in a given time while assay is the amount of drug contained in a single dosage form of the drug. The amount of drug contained in the single dose form of the drug may not be completely released after a certain period of time.

Why it is important character of a tablet and capsule
Answer: Tablets and capsules are solid dosage forms. Unless the contents of the tablet or capsule are dissolved in a suitable solvent, it cannot reach the systemic circulation by absorption. This is the important characteristic of dissolving tablets and capsules which are solid dosage forms. Simulated gastric fluid (SGF) and simulated gastrointestinal fluid (SIGF) are widely used as dissolution media.
