Unlike quality control, quality assurance is usually focused on how processes are performed or how services are delivered. It focuses on preventing mistakes made by creating and evaluating processes, strategies and brand policies. Typically, your quality assurance function will have a “checklist” of standards to identify services.
Participating in quality assurance is up to everyone, although a designated person or group (customer service team leader or QA team member) to monitor the team helps maintain quality.
Quality control focuses on assessing and managing quality for products – usually during the development process. It focuses on correcting problems such as product defects and is concerned with conducting a quality audit and taking corrective action rather than deciding what checks need to be carried out.
There is usually a dedicated team for quality control which carries out necessary corrections after testing the products. Quality control is more common for businesses that have mass production for manufacturing processes and evaluations.
Finally, the systems you have in place to ensure overall quality should include management of both quality assurance and quality control.
