What is Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)?

Testing is done at the factory where the system is called FAT. The purpose of this test is to ensure that the system functions according to its operational requirements given in the URS.

A cross-functional team from the user side will visit the factory to see it. The vendor then demonstrates the performance of each component in the scope and prepares a report summarizing the activities. The user then agrees or disagrees and decides on the next course of action.

– Identify and rectify potential defects before the system is transferred to the user site.
– Use as a basis for user acceptance at the vendor level.
