Coliform Bacteria
A group of bacteria that can be found in soil, plants, and the digestive tracts of people and animals. Not all coliform bacteria are harmful, but some, like E. coli, can cause diarrhea, vomiting, cramps, nausea, headaches, fever, fatigue, and even death.
Heterotrophic Bacteria
Generally found in all water supplies, these bacteria use organic substances in their environment, such as sugar, to survive and reproduce.
Gram-Negative Bacteria
Particularly members of the phylum Proteobacteria, these bacteria include Blastomonas, Brevundimonas, Methylobacterium, Sphingobium, Acidovorax, Ralstonia, Acinetobacter, and Pseudomonas.
