What is Quality Control (QC)?

Quality control (QC) is the process by which a business seeks to ensure that product quality is maintained or improved. Quality control requires the company to create an environment where management and employees strive for perfection. This is done by training staff, developing criteria for product quality, and testing products to check for statistically significant changes.

A significant aspect of quality control is the establishment of well-defined controls. These controls help standardize both production and response to quality problems. Limiting errors by specifying which production activities will be performed by which workers reduces the likelihood that employees will engage in tasks for which they are not adequately trained.
