1.0 OBJECTIVE
To describe the procedure for operation and cleaning of Vacuum cleaner.
2.0 SCOPE
This procedure is applicable for operation and cleaning of Vacuum cleaner used in warehouse.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 Operator to follow the laid down procedure.
3.2 Warehouse officer shall be responsible for supervision, control and appropriate training to operator.
3.3 Warehouse in-charge shall be overall responsible for effective implementation of procedure.
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY

5.0 PRECAUTIONS
5.1 Before starting the cleaning ensure that the vacuum cleaner is properly unplugged from the electrical supply point.
5.2 After cleaning ensure that electrical connection wire is thoroughly wiped and dried before running the vacuum cleaner.
6.0 PROCEDURE
6.1 Operation of Vacuum Cleaner
6.1.1 Installing of filter bag: Ensure that the filter bag is fixed in the inner side of the vacuum cleaner.
6.1.2 Hose pipe connection: To collect the dust by sucking, connect the hose on the front portion of the vacuum cleaner. If the removal of dust is required by flow of air, connect the hose on the middle portion of the vacuum cleaner as per provision.
6.1.3 Start: Connect the power supply cable of the vacuum cleaner to the single phase electrical main supply and put the switch ‘ON’.
6.1.4 Tools: Use the crevice nozzle for cleaning of hard to reach places.
6.1.5 Carry out the cleaning activity.
6.1.6 Stop: After completion of the cleaning activity, switch ‘OFF’ the machine by pressing the button Start/stop, thereafter switch ‘OFF’ power supply main button and disconnect the power supply cord from electrical main supply.
6.1.7 Clean the dust-collecting bag after completion of cleaning activity.
6.1.8 Power cord storage: Wind the power cord attached with machine.
6.1.9 Record the operation details of vacuum cleaner in ‘Vacuum Cleaner Operation Record’ (FWH/005).
6.2 Cleaning of Vacuum Cleaner
6.2.1 Cleaning of the Hosepipe
6.2.1.1 Remove the dust-collecting hosepipe by pulling up the locking nut.
6.2.1.2 Clean the hose from inside and outside under running water to remove the adhered powder dust.
6.2.1.3 Check that no powder dust is accumulated on the surface of the hose.
6.2.1.4 Sanitize by rinsing with 2.5 % Dettol / 5.0% Savlon solution.
6.2.1.5 Dry the hose with clean dry cloth.
6.2.2 Cleaning of Filter Bag
6.2.2.1 Unlock the motor housing assembly.
6.2.2.2 Take out the filter bag and dedust.
6.2.2.3 Clean the filter bag under running water to remove all the adhered powder dust.
6.2.2.4 Sanitize by rinsing with 2.5 % Dettol / 5.0 % Savlon solution.
6.2.2.5 Dry the filter bag absolutely.
6.2.3 Cleaning of Holding Tank
6.2.3.1 Clean the holding tank with dry duster to remove the adhered powder dust as and when required.
6.2.3.2 Clean the outer surface of the vacuum cleaner with clean wet cloth.
6.2.3.3 Wipe with clean dry cloth.
6.2.4 Frequency of cleaning
6.2.4.1 At the end of days operation, emptying of the contents of holding tank and cleaning of outer surface and vacuum cleaner by using dry dusters.
6.2.4.2 Record the cleaning details of vacuum cleaner in ‘Vacuum Cleaner Cleaning Record’ (FWH/011).
