1.0 OBJECTIVE : To set up a guideline for the operation and cleaning of Thermostatically Controlled Water Bath.
2.0 SCOPE : This SOP is applicable for the operation and cleaning of Thermostatically Controlled Water Bath.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 Operating personnel is responsible for carrying out the procedure.
3.2 Overall responsibility for training, implementation & follow-up with the QC Manager or his nominee.
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Precautions
5.1.1 Ensure proper water level in the water bath before starting the bath. The heater should be completely immersed in water.
5.1.2 Use purified water to avoid scaling on the heaters.
5.1.3 Ensure the lid is properly closed while running the water bath.
5.1.4 Every time use tong for placing and removing materials into the water bath.
5.2 Starting the Water Bath
5.2.1 Fill the water bath up to the desired level.
5.2.2 Connect the instrument to the mains.
5.2.3 Put “ON” the “Mains” on the control panel.
5.2.4 Set the desired temperature by pressing increment key (▲) [to increase the temperature] or decrement key (▼) [to decrease the temperature] and press SEL to select.
5.2.5 Move and fix the “Safety Thermostat” knob [on the right side of the control panel] to the temperature more than 5°C to that of the user’s set temperature.
5.2.6 Wait until the bath temperature reached to the desired level.
5.3 Using the Water Bath
5.3.1 When the desired temperature is reached which is set to 550C, place the material in the water bath.
5.3.2 In this condition keep the sample in the water bath for the period as per STP of particular sample.
5.3.3 Switch off the “Mains” after offloading all the material (s).
5.4 Cleaning
5.4.1 Clean the water bath from inside and outside after use.
5.4.2 Clean the control panel from inside.
