Medicine

Medicines or drugs are chemical substances which, when applied, affect the normal functions of the body and by which diseases are destroyed or cured, or pains and sufferings are alleviated; Includes herbal remedies. Medicines are basically of two types: therapeutic (curative) and prophylactic. According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) definition: “products that are used in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease” and “products (other than food) that “Can affect the physical structure or function of humans and other animals” are called drugs. However, the World Health Organization does not impose such a strict definition of drugs. According to the World Health Organization: The term “medicine” can have a variety of uses. Medicines in medical science are substances which have the power of cure and prevention or which help to maintain physical and mental health. Again, in pharmacology, drugs are chemical substances capable of altering the biochemical and physical processes of an animal or organism. Again, the word drug means illegal substance in the common mouth. Eg: Heroin, Phencidyl, Marijuana, etc.
