Dry Granulation

Granulation is a mechanical process used to change the physical properties of a powder or powder mixture. Flow characteristics, concentration and particle size are the primary parameters affected by this process. Granulation processes are employed when raw materials exhibit powder or mixture behavior characteristics that preclude other manufacturing processes. These include poor flow (“bridging,” “rat-holing,” etc.), poor compressibility, material segregation, and improper particle size to name a few.
