Objective: To set up a procedures for crimping strength test for all semi-finished products.
Scope: This procedure is applicable for semi-finished products manufactured at MDI unit, (Company Name).
Responsibility:
1. IPQA Officer shall be responsible for sampling and testing of semi-finished products as per the procedure
2. Manager, QA shall be overall responsible for execution, supervision, control and implementation of the procedure.
Accountability: Head of Quality
Precautions:
1. Use appropriate safety appliances like hand gloves and safety goggles.
2. Check and ensure due date of calibration of thermometer.
3. Ensure the cleanness of the equipment.
Procedure:
1. After propellant filling collect 2 numbers of samples (filled cans) for crimping strength test at the beginning, middle and end of the process.
2. Switch on, set and raise the temperature of the bath at about 50 + 2 °C.
3. Once the desired temperature (50 + 2°C) is reached, submerge the canisters under water for two to three minutes.
4. Observe whether there is any bubbles coming out in the water bath, crack or burst from the cans.
5. If the bubble, crack or burst is observed, IPQA Officer shall inform the production operator for the corrective action.
6. In case there is resetting/ corrective action, same number of cans is to be tested compliance & recorded.
7. Record sampling quantity, time with date and test results in Annexure-I
8. Discard the tested cans for disposal as per procedure.
9. After finish the test record the equipment operation details in the “Equipment Operation Record”.
10. At the end of the day discard the water of the bath and clean the equipment. Record the cleaning details in “Equipment Cleaning Record”.
