Objective: To provide a written procedure for cleaning activities in order to reach and maintain the required cleanliness level for General Production Areas.
Scope: This SOP shall be applicable for the General Production Areas.
Responsibility:
1. Sr. Officer/Officer shall be responsible for implementation of the procedure.
2. Manager, Production or his/her Designee shall be accountable for training and ensuring implementation of the procedure.
Precautions:
1. Dry dusting and dry sweeping shall not be allowed during operation.
2. Mop yarn, cloth, scrubber or brush shall not be transferred between different areas.
3. Wet cleaning shall be performed during operation.
Procedure:
*** CLEANING AGENTS
>>> Glass Cleaner – Windoline or Brasso (Trade Name) for Windows only.
>>> Floor Cleaning – Jet or Vim Powder for weekly cleaning purpose.
*** DISINFECTANTS
>>> Savlon (0.3% Chlorhexidine gluconate + 3% Cetrimide). The ratio of Savlon and Raw water is 1:20 for preparing Savlon solution.
>>> Dettol (Chloroxylenol BP 4.8% w/v). The ratio of Dettol and Raw water is 1:40 for preparing Dettol solution.
*** EQUIPMENT
>>> Buckets, Mop yarn, Disposable cloth, Window scrapers, Spray bottles and Scrubbers.
>>> Cleaning equipment shall be stored in a ventilated area, especially reserved for this purpose.
>>> The area shall be situated near the areas where the equipment is intended to be used e.g. for General Areas it shall be located under the internal staircase.
>>> The bucket shall be rinsed and disinfected after each use and stored upside down.
>>> Reusable materials (mop yarn, cloths, scrubbers and window scrappers) shall be washed after each use with disinfectant, dried and then shall be stored in clean poly bags.
*** CLEANING AND DISINFECTION PROCEDURE
>>> Cleaning programs for General Production areas at normal activities are given in Table 01.
>>> The frequency of cleaning (Table 02) is dependent upon the level of activity in the area. The Concerned Officer shall be responsible for any change to the schedule.

>>> Savlon and Dettol shall be used alternatively on consecutive days.
>>> Scrubbing liquid shall be changed frequently.
>>> The cleaner shall maintain a Report (Form No. PP002-01) for each area and other employees of respective section/department shall check that.
>>> The conveyor belts, other equipments and horizontal surface of packaging & autoclave hall shall undergo wet mopping with Savlon or Dettol only.
*** WEEKLY CLEANING CAMPAIGN
>>> The detergent (jet or vim powder) shall be used when the production/packaging operation is totally closed.
>>> Required quantity of detergent solution shall be prepared and the floor shall be scrubbed thoroughly with it.
>>> It shall be kept for few hours to dry and wet mopped the whole area with Savlon or Dettol solution.
>>> The glasses of windows and other glass fixtures shall be wiped with glass cleaner.
>>> Walls, light fittings and all hidden corners shall be wiped with Savlon or Dettol.
>>> At the end of weekly cleaning operations the cleaner shall fill up a report (Form No. PP002-01).
