Branches of Pharmacology

The two main branches of pharmacology are pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. When the medicine enters our body, the body starts working on it directly. Absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs in the body are the topics of pharmacology. The mechanism by which drugs act on the body is largely intact without the role of a consumer, since it is this consumer that helps the drug to act on the body by virtue of its selectivity. On the other hand, the action of drugs or chemicals on the body is mainly the subject of pharmacology. The dosage or “course” of medication and the duration of its pharmacological action are determined in the light of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. There is a difference between pharmacology and the science of drug preparation and use. Pharmacology deals with how drugs affect organisms or biological media and how drugs are affected by organisms or biological media. On the other hand, Pharmacology is a biomedical science that deals with the preparation, use and administration of drugs by applying the knowledge derived from Pharmacology.

Sub-disciplines
Patient-centered medicine
The branch of medicine that deals with the effects of medicine on organisms and the human body. “Clinical pharmacology” is called in English.

Neuropharmacology
The branch deals with the effects of drugs on the functioning of the nervous system. In English it is called “Neuropharmacology”.

Psychopharmacology
Monitoring the action of medicine and its effect on the mind and brain, determining behavioral differences and observing physiological effects, etc. are the topics discussed in this branch. In English it is called “Psychopharmacology”.

Pharmacology
Knowledge of how medication dosage is determined. Depending on the patient’s age, mass, sex, weather etc. In English it is called “posology”.

Herbal medicine
Extraction and processing, storage, marketing, proper distribution and distribution of medicinal products from plant or animal matter with herbal properties are discussed. “Pharmacognosy” is called in English.

Medicogenetics
The main subject of this branch is to determine the difference in the effect of drugs according to different varieties, categories, caste variations and based on these to select the right dose and the least reactive drug. In English it is called “Pharmacogenetics”.

Medico-Genetics
Discuss the use of genetic technology in medicine. Research related to the development of existing drugs and the discovery of new drugs. In English it is called “pharmacogenomics”.
